NEED TO KNOW!
Criteria for participating as a volunteer for the
Maui Film Festival at Wailea
DATES OF FESTIVAL: Wednesday, June 13th - Sunday, June 17th.
OFFICIAL PRE-FESTIVAL VOLUNTEER MEETING
(To Be Determined)
To all Volunteer Candidates! There will be a volunteer orientation meeting at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center about 1 week before the festival. Information will be provided to all registered volunteers. It will last approximately one hour. There will be an electronic presentation, time for answers to questions and printouts of the current roster so you can easily see where the needs are.
The online registration and scheduling system creates a myVolunteerPage.com profile that empowers you to create and manage your own schedule. Experience doing a particular activity makes everything go smoother so "repeat" as possible.
VENUES: Our "Celestial Cinema" under the stars at the Wailea Golf Resort (Gold/Emerald course) continues to be our featured venue while the MACC (Maui Arts & Cultural Center) in Kahului screens both daytime and evening films. Each year the festival gifts the community with free films at Wailea Beach (in front of the Four Seasons resort) in a venue called "Toes-In-The-Sand Cinema" This year's screening(s) will be "to be determined." Opening night festivities "TASTE OF SUMMER" will be at the Grand Wailea. Volunteer needs are "to be determined."
DRESS CODE: As "Ambassadors of Aloha" we ask that you present yourself in the same professional manner you would any employer; clean clothes, attention to hygiene, and good walking shoes. Many jobs require being on your feet, walking up and down a fairly steep ramp and walking on grass. Please refrain from wearing slippers ("sandals" for you main-landers) as they can severely limit your mobility and safety. The official uniform of the MFF@Wailea Volunteer is khaki (tan) or black shorts, pants or skirt and the official MFF T-Shirt you will receive when you check in for your first shift, in the size and gender you indicate when you register .
COMMITMENT: If you commit to a shift and accept tickets for events that occur before your shift, and then don't show up, you'll be asked to return the tickets. If you make a commitment, please honor it.
CONSIDERATION: Each regular 4-hour volunteer shift entitles volunteers to two movie vouchers good at this year's Maui Film Festival at Wailea. Volunteers can earn an extra "bonus" pass for working the late shift at Celestial Cinema (9p-1a). There are no movie perks outside of the 5-day summer festival from June 13-17.
Example: An evening at the Celestial Cinema in Wailea requires two vouchers per person. If you work two regular shifts you will have earned an evening at the Celestial Cinema for you and a friend (or 2 nights just for you). If you work 2 late shifts, you will have earned enough for an evening at the Celestial Cinema for you and 2 friends (or 3-nights just for you).
VOLUNTEER PARKING: Parking for volunteers is at the Blue Course at the Wailea Golf Course (below Mulligan's). Head south past the resorts of Wailea. Turn left at the intersection immediately after you pass the Fairmont Kealani - pull into first drive on right and right again into the lower Mulligan's parking lot. Arrive 10-15 minutes before you are scheduled to check in at the Volunteer desk at the Celestial Cinema (see map). Veteran volunteers will show you where to go once you get on the shuttle.
